The Stellher Team
Dave Erickson
Stellher Human Services was founded by Steve and Ellen Jackelen in the Spring of 1994. I was lucky to be invited onboard in August of 1996 as school-based worker in Thief River Falls. I didn’t know much about Stellher, as I was just feeling happy to have found employment coming out of grad school. But as the months and years moved along, I came to appreciate the basic principles on which Stellher was built. The Jackelens believed in treating people fairly and with dignity and respect. Those people included their staff members, the agencies with whom they did business, and most of all – the people to whom Stellher provided services.
Four staff members were offered the chance to become partners in 2006. Two of those part-owners retired by 2015 which left Mark Miller and myself for several years. Since then Mark has “retired,” at least from ownership, and Colleen Beck has taken on the role as co-owner. However, Mark continues his work at Stellher as a practicing mental health professional. And, having Colleen on board has made Stellher a wiser organization.
We are also fortunate to have over 80 staff members devoted to the same ideals, who provide these services daily. We are thankful for each of them and for their dedication, hard work, and for the opportunity to be able to make a living doing things we love.

Colleen Beck
I graduated from the University of Nebraska Omaha in 2000 with my Master’s in Social Work. I was hired by Steve Jackelen in the spring of 2001 to provide community-based services to kids and their families. The Jacklyn’s were innovative thinkers, and I always appreciated their devotion to helping staff grow and develop professionally. This philosophy continues to be essential for our staff and the people they serve.
Over the years, I have provided direct service, coordinated, and supervised many different programs including Intensive Children’s Therapeutic Supports and Services, Community Based CTSS, Mobile Crisis, Adult Crisis Stabilization, Outpatient services and Early Childhood Mental Health. I have training in Trauma Focused- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Managing and Adapting Practices and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. I am an approved supervisor for LICSW and LPCC licensure.
Currently, my duties are centered around clinical direction of the agency. Building healthy relationships, encouraging individuality and creativity within Stellher Human Services and with stakeholders is rewarding and inspiring work.
I was very happy to have the opportunity to join Mark and Dave on the ownership team in November of 2021. It is an exciting time to be a part of this team as we continue to work toward creating a healthy, person-centered culture for staff and the clients we serve as we carry on our founder’s core principles.
